Note that the user is called a customer. Not a user. Microsoft doesn't care about usability, security or data loss. The user is called "customer" 37 times in that article. Conversely, the term "user" only appears three times, only one is in reference to an actual user of the system and even then it's quoted from a feedback email.
You are merely a revenue stream. They don't care about how many times your computer crashes, how many thousands of photos, videos and documents you've lost. You are a copy of Windows and a copy of Office.
